So we're back from Galilee, and I had an amazing time. I have many stories from there now. Posts will be coming soon.
However, I figured I'd start with today before I go into the past.
Today was the first ever Marathon in Jerusalem! Did we participate? Oh yes! However, I definitely did NOT run a marathon or half marathon or 10K. I was definitely content to participate in the 4.2K run for cancer. A group of us gathered at 9 to make it to the race before it started at 10:30. However, our taxi was late, and we got bored...so we all took mug shots with our running numbers!

Finally, though, the taxi did get there, but had a hard time driving around when so many roads were blocked off. So, he dropped us as close as he could get from the start at the Knesset (probably about 3/4 of a mile away from the starting line). We had 10 minutes to get there. What did we do? Ran it. We ran to get to our race. And just as we could see the starting line, we heard the countdown start in Hebrew...and we missed the start of our race...while were running to it. Oh the Irony.
We managed to make it to the starting line within a minute, and ran the full race. However, because we are the crazy children that we are, we decided that we would Parkour Hardcore for Cancer for much of the race, as evidenced by Piers' sign:
So we ran and jumped over bushes and kicked off of curbs and did every crazy thing that we possibly could. We also ran into a Dixieland Band playing 'Oh when the Saints Come Marching In:'
We weren't the only crazy people though...there was a group of people walking this race on stilts. There was also a group of people on Segways. One of them creeped into the left side of Lauren's finishline picture:
I even met someone from Dallas running with a giant Texas flag for his father, who is fighting cancer in Dallas.
We finished!
Cool medals for running? Success.
Raquel and Ally and me, happy to have finished.
